Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to common questions about Waypoint Institute.

Are you accredited?

No. We are a non-accredited, religious educational ministry focused on the Great Commission. Certificates mark completion of Waypoint Institute courses; transfer to other institutions is not implied. We are exploring future partnerships while honoring our exempt status under U.S. religious education guidelines.

What language are courses in?

Instruction is in English. You may submit written work in English and record capstones in English or your native language—our team translates or summarizes as needed. We add translated supplements as volunteers and funding allow.

What’s the workload?

Expect gentle but steady study. Most students spend 6–8 hours per week reading, reflecting, and preparing for the capstone conversation. Courses are designed for meditation and mastery, not rush.

How do cohorts and capstones work?

Your cohort of 24 students stays together through the Biblical Formation core. Each course ends with a 30-minute recorded conversation with one or two classmates. Faculty review every voice, offer feedback, and assign follow up if more evidence of mastery is needed.

After year one you pursue an associate specialization (Biblical Studies, Christian Evangelization, or Classical Christian Studies) and then reunite for the associate research seminar.

What technology do I need?

Reliable internet for reading and uploads, access to Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, and a device capable of joining at least one 30-minute Google Meet call per course. A microphone—and ideally a camera—helps you record capstone conversations. Tell us if you anticipate barriers and we’ll help troubleshoot.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Tuition, testing, and resources are donor-funded. Your only investment is time, prayer, and attention.

Can I use a pseudonym?

Yes. If sharing your name could put you at risk, apply with a pseudonym. We separate identity data from coursework and never publish capstone recordings.

How do I apply?

Complete the online application. We review context, language needs, and ministry goals to place you in the inaugural cohort or on the waitlist for the next launch.
