Who we are
Waypoint Institute (“Waypoint,” “we,” “us”) provides teaching: online courses, instruction, and related learning resources. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, apply, or use our online learning platform. You can reach us at admin@waypoint.institute.
Information we collect
- Application information you submit, such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, country of residence, year of birth, and educational background.
- Account information when you sign in with Google: your name, email address, and profile image as provided by Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Learning records created as you study, such as enrollments, lesson progress, quiz attempts, assignment submissions, grades, and instructor feedback.
- Communications you send through the platform, including messages and forum posts, and emails you send to us.
- Technical information needed to operate the site securely, such as IP address, browser type, and server logs kept by our hosting providers.
- Store orders, if you buy from our store: the details needed to fulfil and deliver your order. Payment card details are handled by the payment processor and are not stored by us.
How we use information
- To review applications and communicate with applicants.
- To provide courses, track progress, grade work, and give feedback.
- To operate messaging and course forums.
- To keep the platform secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems.
- To respond to questions and support requests.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who can see your information
Your instructors and Waypoint staff can see your learning records and submissions as needed to teach and administer courses. Forum posts are visible to other members of the course or forum. Private messages are visible to their sender and recipients, and to administrators when needed for safety or support.
We use trusted service providers to run Waypoint, including providers for website hosting, database and authentication services, Google sign-in, email, and store fulfilment and payment. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our community.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies. When you sign in, we set cookies that keep you securely signed in and remember your session as you move between pages. Without them, the learning platform cannot work. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Because we only use essential cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If we ever add optional cookies, such as analytics, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, you can still browse the public site, but you will not be able to sign in.
Data retention
We keep application information for as long as needed to make and record admissions decisions. We keep learning records for as long as you are a student and for a reasonable period afterward, so we can confirm completed coursework. We keep messages and forum posts while the course or forum is active. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Security
We protect information with access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and providers that follow industry security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or ask us to stop certain uses of it. Email admin@waypoint.institute from the address linked to your account, and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law, and we will honour them as required.
Children
Waypoint is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Applicants under 18 should apply with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
Waypoint is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using Waypoint, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users.
